About Us
Skilled Care Solutions was formed in the early part of 2015 to provide private duty nursing to children under 21. We provide Registered Nurses to our children to follow the care plan developed by our children, their families, Skilled Care Solutions, and approved by their Doctors. We will also provide Licensed Practical Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants if called for by the care plan. The care we provide can range from a few hours a week all the way to 24 hour coverage 7 days a week.
Our Role As An Agency
Our children and families have choices: they can hire us as the primary agency for their account and we will be primarily responsible for staffing the account and working with DHHS . Alternatively we may be hired as a secondary agency and assist an existing primary agency in filling staffing shortfalls. On rare occasions our children and families wish to replace their existing primary agency in favor of Skilled Care Solutions due to problems that have arisen. Frequently the nurses that have staffed the account choose to accompany the family to Skilled Care Solutions as well.

Nurse Requirements
All of our nurses are licensed to practice in the State of Maine. We are required to confirm licensure before hiring our nurses. We do so with the Maine State Board of Nursing through their website at Maine.Gov/BoardofNursing. Our clients have access to this website and can also confirm licensure.
All our nurses have their backgrounds checked as required by the State. We are required to subscribe to the Maine Background Check Center (MBCC) and conduct the background checks through their managed website at Backgroundcheck.Maine.Gov/dhhs/mbc. We are not allowed to place one of our nurses prior to conducting a background check.
All our nurses are encouraged to complete 40 hours of continuing professional education each year. Skilled Care Solutions is committed to providing the best possible care to its children and expects its nurses to constantly improve upon their level of practice.
Skilled Care Solutions carries professional liability insurance of one million dollars for each incident and five million aggregate. This insurance covers our nurses as well. Skilled Care Solutions carries this insurance to protect the children we serve. All our nurses are tested, prior to placement, to insure that they have the skill set necessary to properly manage all equipment, procedures, supplies, therapies, and medications.

The services we provide are defined by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services in their Rule Chapter 10‐144. Chapter 101, within the rule chapter, is the Maine Benefits Manual and within the Manual, chapter II, section 96 covers private duty nursing and personal care services. Chapter III of the Manual, section 96 covers the allowances MaineCare provides for the services we provide. This information can be found online at Maine.Gov.
We are licensed to provide these services by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) through their Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services. Our license number is 39226.
We are trading partners with MaineCare and are enrolled in the Maine Integrated Health Management Solution system (MIHMS). We can be found on their provider listings.
The children we serve are members of MaineCare and are enrolled as members on the Maine Integrated Health Management Solution system (MIHMS). They may or may not have private insurance. One of the steps we take is confirming eligibility of our children as MaineCare members through the MIHMS system.
